  The Certified Volunteer Manager Program  

Volunteers are vital to the success of many organizations and there is an urgent need for these important
resources to be effectively recruited, retained, managed and developed.

This program is designed to train leaders, administrators and managers of volunteer programs how to
effectively manage their
volunteer staff by providing them with the leadership and management
techniques and training developed specifically for the needs of the volunteer professional.

Upon completion of the Certified Volunteer Manager program, participants will:
1) Master the volunteer retention cycle,
2) Develop tools to effectively respond to current and emerging issues,
3) Understand the complexities of leadership, influence and organizational relationships and structures,  
4) Learn to create and market successful volunteer programs.

Required Courses are:

CVM 001- Issues Affecting the Management of Volunteers
Fee with Book(s):$235                                                                                 
Designed to provide new, prospective,and seasoned volunteer managers/coordinators with the skills
needed to function effectively in their career field. In addition, participants will be provided with a variety
of contacts and resources to create or expand a support network that extends beyond the course
experience.

CVM 002 - Leadership Theory for Volunteer Managers                    
Fee with Book(s):  $235                       
An overview of organizational leadership theory and practice for volunteer managers. Participants will
examine and develop a range of skills in a number of interpersonal areas: group dynamics, decision
making, managing differences, and leadership and influence.

CVM 003 - Trends in Volunteerism for the 21st Century         
Fee with Book(s):  $235
With volunteerism on the increase the need for more increasing across the country, participants will learn
how to apply the principles of volunteer management as they work with the volunteer who chooses to give
short-term service to an organization, agency, or program.

CVM 004 - Volunteer Management Concepts    
Fee with Book(s):  $235
An analysis and review of day-to-day concepts of management principles volunteer programs in
the public, nonprofit sectors. This course will focus on ethics, risk management, nonprofit law,
marketing and public speaking.

CVM 005 - Volunteer Program Planning and Evaluations                
Fee with Book(s):  $235
Designed to provide students with the basic skills necessary to design and plan volunteer programs and
evaluate their effectiveness.  Special emphasis will be given to measuring program outcomes.
